Day Four

i think i should change my layout. the chatbox sticking out is oogley.

Am surrently in the the library. The computer room is packed, cos they closed up half the hall for a lecture.

they're conducting a lecture in here...of all places!

have found myself to be extremely free, these recent times. Yesterday was thaipusam. While everyone else was carrying kavadies up 272 steps, i slept till noon and spend the rest of the daylight reading.

i read I, Phoolan Devi. which is about, well, phoolan devi. She was a bandit, or more commonly know then, a dacoit. It was quite an apt read for Thaipusam, in a way. Although i found the atrocities commited against women in these rural, unreached areas appaling! My next read is Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. I hear it's known to have help prevent many a relationship misconduct. Hmm...we'll see.

Heath Ledger was gound dead on tuesday. This is sad news. I've always liked him. I hope he's safely where he should be now.

-lets have a moment of silence-

Strawberry Quick

This is a new drug known as 'strawberry quick' There is a very scary thing going on in the schools right now that we all need to be aware of.There is a type of crystal meth going around that looks like strawberry pop rocks (the candy that sizzles and 'pops' in your mouth). It also smells like strawberry and it is being handed out to kids in school yards . They are calling it strawberry meth or strawberry quick. Kids are ingesting this thinking that it is candy and being rushed off to emergency in dire condition. It also comes in chocolate, peanut butter, cola, cherry, grape and orange. Please instruct your children to not accept candy from strangers and even not to accept candy that looks like this from a friend (who may have been given it and believe it is candy) and to take any that they may have to a teacher, principal, etc. immediately.

Day 2 - 2008

Tis the new year! Happy New Year everybody!
Last night was a bang. I celebrated new years, as i do every year, in church. We have watchnight service.
Like Jo says, "whats the point going to sardine-can packed places, when we can go to church?"

I feel the years are passing swifter and swifter as they come, time, in general, passes more quickly nowadays...i don't know if it's a 20s thing (they say in your 20s, the years fly by quicker that it ever will in your whole life). Yesterday's watchnight was swifter that usual also.

So the past months, i have been missing. (though, i don't appreciate the sarcasm, jin and simon!)
Its been a hoola of a Christmas!

We've done lots...and since i'm on *ehhem* Blogger now, i can show pictures; here's some from Personage : A Christmas Dinner :

An Elf

The Grim Reaper

So that was Christmas for ya...we have service on Tuesday, and carolling and sore throats and bags under the eyes. This was by far, the most tiring Christmas, or rather the maddest Christmas in my short 20 years time span. I have non pictures, so i can't show you the rest, sorry.

But it was all worth it.

It was quite astounding that we had so much strength to pull through, and i give all credit to the Giver of Life, whom we celebrated through all that we did.

So back to today...a new year, and i'll bet this one's gonna speed by also. Papa made me a New Year's resolution yesterday, and pasted it on my door. it said :

"2008 Resolution for Sue Yin
- Keep your room tidy always"

sheesh.

so for the new year...i have no resolutions i suppose...this year has been one of great changes for me, new things...and i should expect new year will be like that.

Luke 18

The Parable of the Persistent Widow
1Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2He said: "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. 3And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, 'Grant me justice against my adversary.'

4"For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, 'Even though I don't fear God or care about men, 5yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won't eventually wear me out with her coming!' "

6And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"
